Lake Huron is the 2nd largest
of the Great Lakes and the 3rd largest fresh water lake in the
world. Lake Huron has a surface area of over 23,000 square
miles and an average depth of 190 feet, with a maximum depth
of 755 feet. Lake Huron has the longest shoreline of the
Great Lakes, counting the shoreline of it's 30,000 + islands.
Every year, thousands of
anglers set a course for Saginaw Bay, Michigan and the Great
Lake Huron for vacation because Lake Huron walleye fishing is
some of the best walleye fishing in the country.
In the summer, the waters
begin to warm, and walleye tend to move into deeper areas of
Lake Huron. Walleye fishing can be quite successful with the
use of deepwater crankbaits, especially if you target islands,
inlets running into deep water, and sunken reefs, since
walleye like to hold in these areas while in transition to the
deeper waters. If you want to hit a real hot spot, you should
visit the Tawas Bay at the north end of the lake.
Salmon, Steelhead, Muskie, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, and
Smallmouth Bass are also caught in Lake Huron.
